There were a wealth of activities and events last month The Covington

At The Covington
We hosted a great fashion show with LA, Touch of Fashion. Residents were on the catwalk with some of the boutique’s latest items. Following the fashion show, the boutique hosted a pop-up shop in Schumacher Hall.

At The Covington
Our Creative Living program offered a silk scarf painting class. Residents were able to create beautiful, wearable art.

At The Covington
Residents enjoyed a special social event at our Pavillion, celebrating the season. With beer tasting, German–inspired food, a band and dancing, a little bit of Bavaria came to Orange County.

At The Covington
This month, resident Rebecca Tantama showcased her art. During a social hour, she talked about her inspiration for her distinctive work. She has taken an immersive program at Saddleback College in Chinese painting, and the result of this training is reflected in her work. Her art is showcased throughout the community, for all to enjoy.

Performances
Mike Chamberlin has been singing as long as he’s been talking. By high school, he was entrenched in Rock ‘N Roll music and signed by a record label. He has been performing professionally for almost 50 years and brought his depth of talent and energy to a packed audience.

Outings
The Covington Walking Club is always exploring parts of our region. Recently the group spent a beautiful day in Irvine as they visited Woodbridge Lake. The calming water, surrounded by lush greenery, creates a sense of peace and tranquility. The straight, paved walk welcomes a range of mobility levels.
The Walking Club also visited Nix Nature Center at Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. The Nix Nature Center is the gateway for visitors to explore a vast network of linked trails throughout the 20,000-acre South Coast Regional Wilderness. It features award-winning interpretive exhibits and an ongoing series of educational programs, guided hikes and other activities.

Outings
Residents attended a matinée performance at one of our Creative Living Partners, Laguna Playhouse. “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” is a Tony Award-winning musical that’s a perfect blend of big laughs, wicked plot twists, and impossibly quick costume changes. It’s a madcap romp through Edwardian England where the bodies pile up, the laughs roll in, and love proves to be the deadliest weapon of all. The afternoon began with a wine and cheese reception before residents settled into their seats for what the New York Times called “Ingenious…among the most inspired new musical comedies.”

Outings
Last month, residents enjoyed a field trip to the newly built St. Michael’s Abbey in Silverado Canyon. They joined the Norbertine Fathers for midday prayer and heard the chanting of the psalms in their breathtaking new church — a true architectural masterpiece. The sanctuary and chapels are adorned with stunning mosaics and paintings by world-renowned Italian artists, including tributes to Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
