Join us for a screening of one of Alfred Hitchcock’s most shocking films of all time. The 1960 film Psycho redefined horror movies. The film score, written by Bernard Herrmann, was so iconic that Hitchcock said, “Thirty-three percent of the effect of Psycho was due to the music.” Marion Crane, played by Janet Leigh visits the Bates Motel and falls prey to one of cinema’s most notorious psychopaths Norman Bates, played by Anthony Perkins. A must-see for movie lovers. Theater snacks will be served.

We have so much talent in one community. Recently, we hosted an Artist’s Gallery for residents. There were many different pieces on display from pictures, pottery, clothing, tapestry, and even a homemade clavichord! Each artist discussed their work, their inspirations, and their process. It was a wonderful demonstration of the creativity that thrives at The Canterbury.

We celebrated National Senior Fitness Day with a beautiful walk around the community. Residents motivated and encouraged each other to keep going and everyone received a participation medal. It was a beautiful day of fun and camaraderie. Movement is a core principle of health and wellness at The Canterbury. Staying active today means we are ready for tomorrow.

The Habit Burger Grill specializes in preparing fresh, cooked-to-order chargrilled burgers and more. It’s a popular dining destination in Torrance, so it’s no surprise that the arrival of the Habit Truck at The Canterbury was just as popular. They cooked up delicious burgers and gave everyone an old-style diner hat. It was a fun and delectable day.
Outings
We took a trip up north to Simi Valley to visit the museum dedicated to our 40th President. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum is the sole nonprofit organization created by President Reagan. During the visit, we were treated to a private docent-led tour of the special exhibit that celebrates our country’s 250th anniversary. A big thank you to resident Phyllis, who is a member of the Board at the museum and made sure we were treated like VIPs.

We love to visit popular places in the neighborhood. Recently, we brought our appetites to Mimi’s Cafe in Torrance. Founded in 1978, Mimi’s is a neighborhood bistro offering fresh, hand-prepared comfort food and bistro classics. We loved the meals and the chance to explore more of the South Bay.
