    September Events

Every season brings more opportunities for the curious and adventurous spirit of those who call our community home. Be it taking the road less traveled, studying the history of our great country, or learning how to hula dance, every day at The Covington is an opportunity for exploration, conversation, and discovery.

    Tiny Bubbles

Our annual Summer Luau was a frolicking good time this year. The weather was hot but we stayed cool under the open air canopy, sipping mai tais no less. The entertainment from Tapua Polynesian Entertainment was spectacular, and the performances included dancing from some of our team members! Everyone had a great time. Aloha.

    Artist in Residence

Quietly talented and wonderfully unassuming, resident Lavonne W. shared a remarkable collection of her artwork created in both acrylics and oils. With a thoughtful eye for color, texture, and detail, these pieces revealed her fantastic artistic talent. Next time you’re at The Covington, we invite you to take a moment to explore our on-property gallery and discover the creativity that thrives among us.

    Focus on Fitness

Recently, Fitness Coordinator, Federico Barone demonstrated the critical need for strength in our legs. His presentation, Thick Thighs Save Lives: The Importance of Building a Strong Lower Body, gave us insight into how to remain strong. He demonstrated how lower-body and core strength improves mobility, balance, injury prevention, independence, and overall quality of life through lifelong functional fitness.

    Concert Series Finale

Our Summer Concert Series wrapped up with a memorable musical celebration. Kenny Hale and his band performed a Neil Diamond Tribute in our pavilion. With a bartender taking orders, and lots of food and dancing, it was a great way to enjoy some of our favorite songs, including Sweet Caroline, Cracklin’ Rosie and Song Sung Blue. Such a fun evening!

    The Great Outdoors

We spent a beautiful day taking in the sights on the Back Bay Loop hike in Newport. The Back Bay Loop Trail is a scenic 10.5-mile recreational path that encircles the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve. Lovely weather, fresh air, and gorgeous scenery made for the perfect outdoor adventure. It was so wonderful to enjoy nature, stay active, and make great memories together.

    Lunch in the Park

Recently, residents of our sister community, The Canterbury joined us in Buena Park for lunch at the famous Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Restaurant. It’s a historic eatery located in Buena Park, right outside the Knott’s Berry Farm theme park gates. It opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room and helped start the entire theme park itself. Given its name, it’s no surprise that it is renowned for its chicken. Everyone had a wonderful time sharing stories, experiences, and making new friends. The day was topped off with a bit of shopping at the nearby gift shops.
