Cliff Henderson was the managing director of the National Air Races from 1928 through 1939, and considered “The PT Barnum of Aviation”. Join us for this Western Museum of Flight video series that captures the national air races. They served as a proving ground for new technologies and engineering developments in a time when aviation was still in its rapid growth period.
Hernan is a world traveler and a master at taking us on journeys from the comfort of our own chairs. This month he will take us to China, a country whose history can be traced back 2,000-plus years. His presentation will share history and insights from this remarkable country.

Larry will bring to life Bob Hope’s remarkable career through video clips and his vast knowledge of music and the Great American Songbook.
Summer is a time for the great outdoors. Be it hiking, a community BBQ, or relaxing in the shade of our quiet gardens, there is a place for everyone here. As an active senior community, we pride ourselves on being adventurous, staying curious, and meeting new people.
At The Covington
Over Memorial Day weekend, we took time to remember our veterans and the fallen who sacrificed for our freedom. We celebrated that freedom by coming together. The day included a barbecue, with burgers, hot dogs and sides galore were on the menu. We played cornhole and ended the day with music and dancing.

The first Thursday of every month, the amazing Chef Chad demonstrates how to make his favorite recipes. This time it was garlic and butter basted Filet Mignon and yes, it was absolutely amazing. Fortunately, Chef Chad made enough to go around or we might have had a situation. Kidding aside, we are so fortunate for talented chefs like Chad at The Covington and the incredible meals we get to enjoy every day.

One thing you will notice when you visit our community is that we are constantly on the go, pursuing interests and living life to its fullest. Part of the secret to staying active is being active. At The Covington, that includes special classes twice a week to keep our joints healthy and limber. It is an hour of fun-filled camaraderie and smiles.

One of our most anticipated events is celebrating artists in our midst. This month we celebrated a resident, Joanne who only joined the art classes upon moving here, having never painted before. Under the guidance of a talented and supportive instructor, she has developed her skills and confidence as an artist. Her work is now featured in the Resident Art Gallery.
Outings
We recently attended the stunning Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa for a beautiful performance of the beloved musical The Sound of Music. A critically acclaimed North American tour of this Rogers & Hammerstein classic relived some of our favorite moments and melodies, including “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and “Edelweiss”. We left feeling that the hills were indeed alive with the Sound of Music.
Outings
The Covington has several Creative Living Partners, including Laguna Canyon Foundation. This special relationship allows us to enjoy guided hikes though Laguna Canyon to immerse ourselves in the area’s flora and fauna. While on the hike, we learned about the environmental changes and challenges of Laguna Canyon and the importance of the canyons to the ecosystem of the surrounding regions.
