Cliff Henderson was the managing director of the National Air Races from 1928 through 1939, and considered “The PT Barnum of Aviation”. Join us for this Western Museum of Flight video series that captures the national air races. They served as a proving ground for new technologies and engineering developments in a time when aviation was still in its rapid growth period.
Hernan is a world traveler and a master at taking us on journeys from the comfort of our own chairs. This month he will take us to China, a country whose history can be traced back 2,000-plus years. His presentation will share history and insights from this remarkable country.

Join us for a discussion with Dr. Audrey Tai, a board-certified ophthalmologist based in Orange County with expertise in macular degeneration. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an eye disease that damages the macula—the central part of the retina. Bob Hope was also a massive supporter of the military, going on 57 USO tours to entertain active-duty service members. Larry will bring to life Bob Hope’s remarkable career through video clips and his vast knowledge of music and the Great American Songbook.

Here, every resident can explore their passions, discover new interests, and find their voice, all while making lifelong friends along the way.
At The Covington
One of our favorite and most popular nights of the Schumacher Concert Series is The Fabulous Follies, the much-anticipated resident-led variety show. There is so much talent in our community. Astounding, hilarious, and mesmerizing, the evening was filled with skits, poems, dancing, and singing. It was a night of laughter, enchantment, and standing ovations. Bravo!
At The Covington
There are lots of great cooks counted among the residents of The Covington, so when our Chef Chad Krahling led a demonstration on how to make Bananas Foster, there were many interested in learning. The smell of the melted butter and brown sugar had mouths watering and attendees were rewarded with some delicious warm samples to taste and savor.

The Schumacher Concert Series recently welcomed back the David Benoit Trio for another fantastic performance. We have been so lucky to have this group grace our stage for the past three years, and once again, they did not disappoint. David is a virtuoso pianist. He and his bandmate played a hypnotic combination of jazz standards with a bit of classical flair thrown in for good measure.

An always-popular event is Social Hour. On the last Friday of every month, residents get together in Schumacher Hall for happy hour. This pre-dinner gathering includes appetizers and drinks, and musical entertainment. It’s a wonderful time to connect and enjoy the music before moving into dinner when conversations and laughter continue.
Outings
Residents of The Covington love their food and wine, so a recent visit to Europa Village Winery was a popular event. Named California Winery of the Year by the California State Fair Association, Europa Village Winery in Temecula Valley Wine Country is the perfect blend of old world charm and new world vibrancy. The group had a wonderful tour of the property then enjoyed a fantastic wine tasting. Absolutely beautiful, absolutely delicious.
Outings
Residents recently spent a day in the field at Descanso Gardens, a beautiful 150-acre estate in La Cañada Flintridge filled with cultivated gardens and natural landscapes. It boasts many rare and indigenous plant species and is nationally accredited as a museum of living collections. Residents roamed the grounds for more than two hours before meeting up for a well deserved lunch.
