    Omnilore is a lifelong learning organization in the South Bay. Please join Leslie Criswell, a retired trial attorney and high school teacher, and 12-year Omnilore Member. Leslie will discuss Omnilore and answer any questions you might have.

    The Penny Royal Players and a Tribute to America

    The Penny Royal Players are a California-based community theater and philanthropic ensemble that blends storytelling, vocal performances, dance, and historical instruments to bring American history to life. Join us for a cocktail and appetizer as we listen to their patriotic sounds as they perform a “Tribute to America”.

    Rubber Block Printmaking with Loren Kantor

    Learn to carve your own rubber blocks and make custom greeting cards. Participants use a tool to carve a soft rubber block. The carved block becomes a rubber stamp and is then used to make cards. The process is fun and easy.

    Anthony Brown, Tech Concierge from The Smarter Service will share tips for taking, sharing, organizing, and storing photos using tools such as Google Photos, iCloud and OneDrive.

    Clocks spring forward in March and so do our residents. Always busy and ever curious, this month saw a variety of events and performances for residents to enjoy. It is this kind of active lifestyle that allows those at The Canterbury to live life on their own terms and feel their best.

    A Day at The Movies

    Film expert Theo Siegel was back with his Day at The Movies series, this time to discuss “12 Angry Men”. Theo’s intimate knowledge of film and film history made attendees feel like they were part of the crew. Released in 1957, the film stands as a powerful testament to justice and judgement. Theo talked about the history of the director, the plot, the actors and everything that defines this film as one of the greatest courtroom dramas ever made.

    High School Musical

    Residents were treated to an outstanding afternoon performance by an exceptionally talented group of students from Palos Verdes Musical Connection. Their skill, enthusiasm, and professionalism shone through every piece, creating a warm and memorable experience for everyone in attendance. After the performance, the students handed out beautiful roses to the residents. We’re grateful for their dedication and for sharing their artistry with the community.

    Happy Hour Fun

    The unforgettable guitar sounds of Noodle Stew entertained residents last month. Ken Nudelman and Michael Stewart brought their talent and energy to Happy Hour, and appropriately, everyone left happy.

    Science is learning about the profound impact that dogs can have on our spirit. Last month Carol from B.A.R.K. Therapy came by with one of her canine partners. Residents enjoyed time with the golden retriever’s wagging tail and winning smile.

    Red Wine or White?

    An Omnilore presentation brought to life the long-debated question: “White Wine vs Red Wine — Which California Wine is the Best?” Susan Strauss and Irene Berlin performed in this fun and educational comedy skit that left the audiences to decide which wine is better.

    A Community of Foodies

    Residents of The Canterbury have a broad palate and enjoy a variety of cuisine. Recently, their appetite took them to Asaka Japanese Cuisine in Rancho Palos Verdes. Residents enjoyed a variety of dishes and great conversation. The ocean view from the patio and relaxed coastal vibe made the whole experience unforgettable.

    Carbon Dating

    A visit to the La Brea Tar Pits Museum was a fun mix of science, history and curiosity. The museum blends outdoor exploration with hands-on indoor fossil exhibits, making it perfect for a relaxed, informative day. Many residents said they felt like they stepped into the Ice Age (without the chill).
