    December & January Events

The Holidays were wonderful at The Covington, a joyous time for family and friends, and filled with the spirit of the season. From presents under the tree and ringing in the New Year to January resolutions, residents continue to embrace opportunity and relish new experiences.

    At The Covington

    Winter Crafts

As the holiday season arrived, residents displayed their winter crafts. The Creative Living program offers a range of classes that explore different techniques and materials. Winter Crafts was an opportunity for residents to proudly display their creations and share in each other’s talents.

    At The Covington

    Holiday Home Tour

Residents opened their doors to welcome others and show their decorations. Friends gathered to share stories, wish the best of the season and share snacks as they went from home to home, seeing how their neighbors celebrate the holidays.

    At The Covington

    New Year’s Eve

One thing we’ve learned over the years is that residents love to throw a party. Our annual New Year’s Eve party was once again a lively affair, offering residents a chance to celebrate another year and look forward to the future together. The evening included a Fantasy Casino, which allows residents to throw caution to the wind without losing their wallets (something everyone appreciated the next day).

    At The Covington

    A New Perspective

The Covington is proud to be part of the ECS family of active senior living communities, an organization at the forefront of senior care, support, and lifestyle. Recently, ECS staff came together for a new and powerful training experience. Through immersive learning and hands-on training exercises, more than 30 team members became Certified Dementia Practitioners. From caregivers and nurses to dining and transportation staff, everyone walked away with new tools and a deeper understanding of how to support residents with empathy and respect.

    At The Covington

    Saddleback College Presentation

Saddleback College is one of The Covington’s creative living partners. Each Friday, a professor delivers an educational presentation on a different topic. Residents packed Schumacher Hall to hear this insightful and thought-provoking discussion.

    Outings

    Walking Club

The Covington Walking Club meets every week to explore a different part of our region. Recently, they visited the Dana Point Headlands Conservation Area, where four conservation parks span almost 60 acres. Three miles of public trails link the conservation parks and public open space areas of the Headlands. The system includes pedestrian trails, coastal and beach access, scenic overlooks, and an informative Nature Interpretive Center. The conservation area is home to more than 150 species of plants and animals native to coastal Southern California. It was a beautiful day out in a stunning location.

    Outings

    Bower’s Museum

Located in Santa Ana, California, Bower’s Museum’s permanent collection includes more than 100,000 objects. The collection includes pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, Native American art, the art of Asia, Africa, and Oceania, and California plein-air painting. Residents spent time exploring the breadth of the collection, then discussed works over a delicious lunch.
