The Holiday Season is always a special time of year at The Covington, a time for friends and family, giving and receiving, and joy and gratitude. As always, residents embrace the festivities with both warmth and glee, filling our community with love and good cheer.

A beautiful Candlelight Christmas concert was the opening night of the Schumacher Concert Series. Performed by the Catalyst Chamber Ensemble from the Long Beach Camarata Singers, it was an inspiring evening for all who attended. Following the memorable concert, residents enjoyed dessert and champagne as they mingled with members of the ensemble.

Residents participated in a style of art marking called Poured Painting. It’s a fun and interesting artistic style that uses acrylic paint and a method called Flood, a process that keeps the paint moving until it dries. The unique aspect of this painting style is that how the canvas looks once the artist stops painting is different from how it looks once dry. It was a fascinating and art-filled time.

The collective knowledge and brainpower of residents is nothing short of astonishing. This is never more evident than on Trivia Night when our friend Ray from Pacific Coast Ventures brings his trivia game to the community. Once the trivia starts, residents put on their thinking caps and vie for bragging rights. It’s a friendly competition of course, but no one comes to lose. Questions run the gamut from history to fun facts, and everyone has a great time.

Last month, members of our New Neighbor Club joined us for The Covington’s annual Harvest Luncheon. Each table was hosted by a resident-member of our Welcome Committee, ensuring all guests were given one-on-one time with residents to have their specific questions answered and hear what it’s really like living at The Covington. Chef Chad prepared a delicious 3-course meal. After lunch, we toured one of our beautiful apartments so guests could see, first-hand, just how comfortable life at The Covington is.

This year’s White Elephant Exchange brought residents together for some fun and lighthearted gift-swapping. Each resident brought a wrapped item, usually something inexpensive, humorous, or gently used. All the gifts were placed in the center of the group, and residents took turns selecting a package to open. Once a gift was opened, the next person could either choose a wrapped gift or select a previously opened one, which added lots of laughs and surprises. It was a great way for everyone to enjoy the holiday spirit together and share a bit of fun and creativity.

Outings
Residents took a ferry ride from Newport Beach to the always-beautiful Balboa Island. While there, they visited the historical Balboa Museum and then enjoyed lunch near the water. It was a fun, adventurous day, and typical of the lifestyle residents enjoy.

Outings
Residents visited the stunning Rogers Garden at Newport Beach. Their extensive grounds are a perennial favorite this time of year. Strolling through the delightful Christmas Boutique, residents found everything needed to deck the halls in style, including a mailbox to leave a letter for Santa. After all that Yuletide spirit, they enjoyed lunch at Farmhouse at Roger’s Garden. This outing is so popular, we added a second day to accommodate all the interest from residents.
