Last month was filled with events and outings at The Canterbury. Below are some of the activities that residents enjoyed.

At The Canterbury
This month in Fun to Create with Susan, residents participated in a Mask Making class, just in time for Halloween. Each mask reflected the creator’s personality. It was fabulous to see the beautiful creations.

At The Canterbury
Residents attended a “Paint & Sip” class. Each participant was given an image to use for inspiration. Instructor Gabrielle Anderson supplied each person with their colors and a blank canvas, then gave instruction on color blending and brush strokes. The Dining team prepared a beautiful spread of cheese, crackers and fruit. Cider and wine made for the Sip! The results were amazing.

At The Canterbury
We had another incredible Health & Wellness Fair at The Canterbury. Our instructors and vendors provided a wealth of useful information, and demonstrations. Residents received goody bags and giveaways. Raffles and prizes rounded out the fun.

At The Canterbury
This month’s Omnilore Lecture was on the history of San Pedro, by Amy Hubbard. She captured the extensive background of the region, from the archaeological sites in the area that date back at least 10,000 years when it was home to the Tongva people, to the first contact with Europeans in 1542 when Spanish Explorer Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo arrived. The lecture continued through the growing and shifting history of the area, to its present day.

Outings
Residents attended Magic of the Jack O’Lanterns at The South Coast Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes. This immersive pumpkin experience features a glowing array of hand carved Jack O’Lanterns and enchanting light displays. The mile-long walking trail includes more than 10,000 carved jack o’ lanterns, radiant light displays, whimsical scenes, and glowing pathways that come to life under the night sky. It was a lovely evening under the stars.

Outings
Residents enjoyed a wonderful picnic lunch with London Duffy Boats, while taking in the views in Alamitos Bay. The Bay is protected by both the natural sand spit peninsula and the Long Beach Breakwater, and provides a beautiful setting for a day on the water.

Outings
An always-popular outing involves trying new restaurants. This month, curiosity took residents to Riviera Mexican Grill in Redondo Beach. It is situated right on the water in the picturesque King Harbor Marina. This day trip combined camaraderie and great food.

Outings
Residents enjoyed an afternoon exploring San Pedro, and taking in the delicious meals at Think Café. The owner, Kash Aghi, was born in Iran and grew up in France. He started the Think Bistro inspired by his experiences in France, where people gathered to discuss ideas. Think Bistro opened in 1995, followed by Think Café two years later. Residents took in the surroundings, great food and engaged in the lively discussions the owner wishes to inspire.
