The Power of Creative Living

“Curiosity is the foundation of a healthy lifestyle.”
~ Jackie Stevens, Regional Director of Life Enrichment

Our journey in life is influenced by the choices we make. As we age, the impact of these choices becomes more pronounced. Having a proactive approach to our health and wellness can help us maintain our edge and be our best.

At ECS, continuous lifelong learning is an essential part of living well. Here, staying active means having the space and place to pursue your passions or try new ones. It is a philosophy we call Creative Living. It allows our residents to thrive in an environment that fosters curiosity, connection, and community.

Jackie Stevens, Regional Director of Life Enrichment, says that residents of ECS communities are some of the most active seniors she has ever met. “Our residents inspire me every day. They are the very definition of what is possible in life, at any age.”

To share more about the benefits of life in our communities, Jackie will be leading a webinar at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. Jackie says that when people move to an ECS independent senior living community, they suddenly find a spectrum of choice that inspires living proactively. “So many residents tell me they wonder why they waited so long to move here.” Such is the incredible array of daily activities and events that one resident recently told Jackie they wished they had more time in the day to do all the things available to them.

Jackie says residents are keen to experience all that life has to offer and often, programs are suggested and sometimes even led by residents. “We have created resident groups to advise us on what we should offer. The ideas are endless.”

Fitness activities are popular and include fun and innovative programs such as cardio drumming and goat yoga! “I think the opportunities that ECS communities provide make it easy for residents to find daily mental, physical, emotional and spiritual stimulation right at their doorstep, and through these pursuits, enjoy all that life has to offer.”  From art and dance classes, to learning a new language, or the simple pleasures of a community garden club, life at ECS is designed to help you live your life, your way.

ECS has partnerships with some of Southern California’s leading galleries, museums, science centers, and universities. It means residents enjoy special access and insight on a range of topics, including on-site tours. “Our focus is on life enrichment and enhancing the quality of life of residents,” Jackie says.

One program that residents are especially keen on is called The Bucket List. “It allows people to do things they have always dreamt of but never had the chance to do,” says Jackie. A popular excursion is to a local racetrack where intrepid residents suit up and drive in a real NASCAR. The eldest participant so far was 97 years young. “The joy on her face after speeding around the track was priceless,” Jackie says.
