Stories Around the Table: How Food Enriches Our Lives

“Laughter is brightest where the food is good.”

You are invited.

The next event in our popular webinar series is Stories Around the Table: How food enriches our lives. Presented by the always engaging Stephanie Montevecchi, Director of Nutrition & Wellness, Morrison Living, the webinar will explore how food and meals connect us socially. “It is the foundation of our emotional health and wellbeing,” Stephanie says.

Around the world, the kitchen represents warmth, love, and nourishment. It is the heart of the home, where family, friends, and neighbors come together to share food and each other’s company. The sustenance we gain comes from both what is on the table and those around it.

ECS has long recognized the important role food plays in our lives as we age. Partnering with Morrison Living ensures that our residents enjoy both a wide variety of freshly prepared meals and the social opportunities that they bring. Food is something we all have in common and at ECS, Stephanie says the goal is to create memorable culinary experiences. “Dining well feeds the body and the soul,” she says. “It should be one of the best parts of someone’s day.”

For residents and their families, the quality and variety of food at ECS is part of our exceptional reputation, offering the best retirement communities in Southern California. Our culinary team works hard to bring an array of choice and flavor to the table every day. Using fresh, local ingredients as much as possible, they accommodate and support the varying dietary needs and preferences of residents.

At ECS communities, connection through food happens in many ways – in teaching kitchens, chef presentations, and our commitment to Dignified Dining for those in Memory Care. These options allow residents to continue to experience and enjoy all the ways that food brings us together.

Stephanie also has tips on what to look for when considering a senior community. “How it approaches food and dining makes all the difference,” she says.

  • Consider the variety of food and locations for meals.
  • Does the style of dining meet your needs and expectations?
  • How flexible are the meals? Does it accommodate your dietary preferences and requirements?
  • Are there various options for dining throughout the day and week?

One innovative program offered at ECS communities is Meal in the Life. It brings travel and culture to the table, allowing diners to experience menus from around the globe, providing insight into other countries and their culinary traditions. “It creates connection through new, shared experiences,” Stephanie says.

In the end, it is about people and ECS has an incredible team who take pride in their work. From the talented chefs in the kitchen to the Maitre d’ who knows the name of every resident and their needs, our approach to food and the connection it brings ensure enhanced dining experiences every day.
