Dr. Vatché Mankerian holds a doctor of musical arts degree from USC’s Thornton School of Music and began teaching at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music in 1988. Join him as he discusses the history of piano music, the popularization of the solo recital and how the piano was finally established as the king of musical instruments.
